I’ve sketched the back view of the Igreja de Santa Maria a couple of times already, so I thought it was about time I sketched this iconic Tavira church from the side.

It’s such an interesting vantage point, and to me it feels like the wall is holding back all the church buildings from breaking free.

Next time I sketch this scene, I want to make the church buildings more of a focal point, rather than just one of the many elements amid a cramped landscape.
