Day Eighty-Seven of Sketching People

Day 87 of my #Kick365 sketching challenge to draw people in ink and watercolour. A quick loose sketch watching a game of boules.

Just a loose sketch

I had a quick jaunt to the recycle bins today, and took my sketchbook with me incase there was something or somebody I wanted to sketch on the way back.

I walked past the area where the village plays boules (Pétanque) and there was a match in progress. I thought with it being a group of old men, they wouldn’t move that quickly so I’d be able to sketch them, but they were all pretty rapid.

So after a couple of quick sketches of one of the players, I packed up my fountain pen and wandered back home.

I’m still experimenting with applying loose watercolour to my sketches, and trying not to worry too much about applying paint outside the lines. I like the use of primary colours in this sketch, and also the addition of the splashed of yellow in proximity to the boules.
