Day One Hundred and Twenty-One of Sketching People
Continuing on with day 121 of my #Kick365 sketching challenge to draw people in ink and watercolour. More biro sketch practice for the Dyan Sara’s Expressive Portraits Class, and an urban sketch at the cafe.
Tuesday’s 10 at 10 Portrait Sketch in Biro
We’re on week two of Dylan’s Expressive Portrait Class, and yesterday I started practicing biro sketching portraits. In addition to the tutorials and class assignments in the portraits course, each weekday morning Dylan hosts his 10 at 10, in this YouTube sketch along he spends ten minutes sketching a portrait.
This is my portrait from today’s reference image, which is taken from a book of historical photo booth snaps, which are all in black and white.
Tuesday’s Drawing Earthsworld Challenge
I sketched today’s portrait reference from the Drawing Earthsworld Challenge from Facebook. Got lost a bit on the hatching, and I don’t think I left enough white, and there needs to be a few more dark, high contrast areas.
Urban Sketching People at the Cafe
It’s been a few days since I’ve been out sketching, and I’ve really missed it. But as luck would have it, there wasn’t many people out there this afternoon.
This is definitely one of those times when I was glad the person I was sketching didn’t ask if they could look at what I was doing. It isn’t the most flattering sketch, but it’s full of character – verging on a bit of a caricature.
