Workaway in Cambodia

When we did our workaway trip to Cambodia I wasn’t really an avid sketchbook artist, so I didn’t do a lot of sketching. But I did take lots of photographs which I used as inspiration years later when I was holed up in LA in 2021. Lot’s of these were sketched as part of my first 365 days of sketching people challenge. But I wanted to have a one stop shop for myself to look back on these as see how my sketching style has changed and evolved.

I really liked how this beach scene turned out. I think this is my favourite travel sketch from the trip. I did quite well with the graduated watercolour, and the line style on the buildings isn’t too stiff and tight. And the colour harmony on this sketch is really cohesive.
