It’s always good to be asked back to sit for a dog you already know, but just because you’ve been there before, doesn’t necessarily mean their pets recognize you. It may take a while for them get comfortable with you, so the best approach to take, is patience.

Shogi came and sniffed me out, but each time I tried to stroke her, she ran away with her tail between her legs, so I settled down to do battle with the remotes. (And was pleasantly surprised to see a copy of my Alzheimer’s poetry collection book on the coffee table shelf).

I decided that by the time I’d figured out how to use the collection of technology, Shogi would have got used to me being in her house, and we’d be buds. No sooner had I started to watch a movie, when she jumped up on the couch to check out what our viewing pleasure was for the night.

I don’t think she could follow the storyline of The Favorite, because she dropped off halfway through, and I know this Olivia Colman won best actress for her performance, but I couldn’t make it to the end of the movie either.

The next day it poured down with rain, and Shogi was looking forward to getting out of the house to run around. How do I know this? She sat at the window to wait for it to stop.

The sun didn’t pop it’s head out at all during my stay, but the lashing rain stopped long enough for me to take Shogi for a muddy walk to the woods. She’s happiest when she’s tearing down the lanes chasing after squirrels, and who am I to stand in the way of some vizsla exercise. We both got wet and muddy, but then it was back home for some more snuggling. She’s a bundle of energy, but after a long strenuous walk, she does love a nap.

Good to see you again Shogi .. I hope I get to sit for you again soon.
