Day One Hundred and Forty-Eight to Fifty-One of Sketching People
Continuing on with day 148-151 of my #Kick365 sketching challenge to draw people in ink and watercolour. I attended the Urban Sketcher’s Symposium in Toulouse and here’s the people I sketched during this four-day event.
Sketching at the USK Lectures in Toulouse
I attended two of the three lectures, which were 30 minute sessions to start the day. One was about Perspective by Stephanie Bower and the other was about Reportage by Rita Sabler. I managed to complete the Perspective lecture with sketches and text (although I didn’t quite catch all 10 points). But I only managed to sketch the front row of the Rita Sabler lecture. I did plan on taking my pencil notes and inking them in, but now I feel it’s too late and I’ve lost momentum on finishing this page, but I do like the juxtaposition of inked people in the foreground and the presentation in pencil. So I’m content to use leave it as is.

Sketching People at my USk Workshops and Demonstration in Toulouse
A collection of warm up exercises at the workshops, and some of the workshop assignments. Also the sketch group from Peter Rush’s demo.

Sketching Sketchers Sketching around Toulouse
There were plenty of sketchers plotted up on the pavements and on the banks of the river, that were sitting still long enough to capture them leisurely. I was able to attend the first sketch walk on Wednesday, and the last sketch walk on Saturday. But the rest of the time I was too busy with workshops, demos, and rushing back to the hotel to get out of my humidity drenched clothes in the middle of the day.

Sketching Sketchers at the Natural History Museum in Toulouse
I didn’t sketch many sketchers at the museum because there were drinks and canapés before the sketching started, and I was tired from the day’s workshop session. But I did sketch one of the aquatic exhibits.

Misc. People Sketches and other Sketches during the Symposium
I didn’t do much building sketching in Toulouse, but I did sketch a few statues, a market stall with prices, and some random people.
