Day One Hundred and Sixty-Six of Sketching People

Continuing on with day 166 of my #Kick365 sketching challenge to draw people in ink and watercolour, with a collection of people sketches during our day trip to the Greek Island of Tilos.

Urban Sketching People during our Day Trip to Tilos

Tilos has been on my destination list for years, and as it was only about a 40 minute ferry ride away from Halki, I finally got my chance…now I can cross it off my list. There wasn’t much to do there, except go to the beach, because time was short.

Urban Sketches of People on the Ferry to Tilos

It took a little while to load the ferry in Halki, so I got the chance to sketch this guy watching the action on the dock, and a loose representation of Halki harbour.

Urban Sketch of a Man on Livadia Beach on Tilos

On Tilos, I spent most of my time relaxing and swimming, but wanted to capture a beach scene. The perspective on the rocky beach is a bit off, but I like this loose sketch of the man gazing out to sea.

I also messed up the water, so had another go at just capturing the beach and its gentle waves – second time around it was better. But still need to get a lot more practice sketching water … and the pebble beach looks more like a pebble wall! I like how I painted the pebbles, but I needed to sketch them differently to create the perspective and add depth.

Urban Sketch of a People at the Cafe at the Ferry Port

We had an hour or so to kill before our return ferry to Halki, and there wasn’t many shops open to explore, so we headed to the port early, and hung out at the cafe. I just loved the body posture of the lady in the blue and white dress.

I was a bit disappointed by Tilos. But at least I got to do a little bit of sketching, so not a complete waste of time.
